Week 9 Whele

In Whele’s essay, I found several elements of fieldworking , including observations, descriptive details, and analysis. She had observed how her Mom had changed at different times in her life and reflected on the impact it had on their relationships. Whele used these reflections so that readers could connect to her story while understanding the deeper lessons about family, memory and time . Through her writing, she demonstrates an outside perspective even while being close to her family, especially her mother, the main character. By paying attention to her mother’s actions, she was able to observe and describe a series of patterns and behaviors overtime . In my own field observations work, I can apply her approach by recording small details along with the dates and moments that stand out because they can later be useful for further analysis. I also want to be able to transform all the notes and details into not only a description of what I observed but also into a profound analysis of what those moments say about the people and their connections.
